Ulcers – Healing Chronic Arterial and Venous Ulcers

Editor: | 16. March 2020

Is the skin on your leg turning red and getting thinner? Is there swelling and pain? Is hair receding? It may be the initial stage of varicose ulcer. Any injury to the skin may be the opportunity for a varicose ulcer to develop. Ulcers may extend both in width and length. Do not postpone seeing your physician as there is a wide range of treatment options.

Are you looking for a solution for ulcers?

Would you like to rid yourself of the issue?

Characteristics of Arterial and Venous Ulcers and their Causes

As a result of changes to veins in the lower limbs, surface tissues disintegrate and varicose ulcers develop. Ulcers are a chronic disease characterised by loss of skin integrity.

About 1% of the population suffers from this disease. The defect affects varying depths of skin and subcutaneous tissues.

Ulcers may develop from arterial causes in advanced stages of lower extremity ischemia that was caused by atherosclerosis. These are classified as arterial ulcers and develop most commonly in toes and heels.

In most cases, ulcers develop based on venous insufficiency in lower extremities. The supply of oxygen and nutrients is reduced, which impedes the healing process. In this case, we are talking about venous ulcers.

The main risk factors are:

  • hereditary predisposition to loss of venous wall elasticity,
  • varicose veins,
  • higher age,
  • History of deep vein system inflammation,
  • diabetes,
  • sedentary job or standing for extended periods of time,
  • insufficient exercise
  • obesity,
  • multiple pregnancies.

An ulcer on the leg is an entryway for infections, erysipelas (rose) is a common complication.

Arterial and Venous Ulcers Treatment – Rid yourself of the Issue

The goal of the treatment is to eliminate the causes that lead to the disease, or to at least compensate for the accompanying diseases (comorbidities).

Restoration of the venous system to a properly functioning one is essential for healing ulcers.

Among the tools that help are:

  • bandaging,
  • exercising,
  • weight reduction,
  • debridement – removal of necrotic tissue,
  • local antibiotics,
  • preparations that promote healing,
  • special bandages – e.g. moist wound healing,
  • protection of healthy neighbouring skin.

If the varicose ulcer is too large and complete healing is not possible, the next step is surgical treatment. In some cases, damage to the vascular system is so extensive that amputation of the extremity may be necessary.

Venoprotective drugs or vasodilators (drugs expanding vessels) are administered, and rehabilitation treatment is necessary.

Healthy diet and maintaining adequate weight are both important parts of comprehensive treatment.

3D Biomag therapy supports comprehensive treatment of ulcers, and its goal is to promote healing and regenerative processes and to create the best conditions for healing and viability of endangered tissues.

Explanation of chosen terms:

  • Venoprotective drugs – drugs promoting strength of venous walls.
  • Vasodilators – drugs expanding veins.
  • Moist wound healing – a method of wound treatment based on creating optimally moist environment on the wound.
  • Erysipelas (or rose) – deep inflammatory infectious disease of the skin that is caused by Streptococcus.

Patented 3D Biomag pulsed therapy. How does it work?

The basic principle of 3D Biomag magnetotherapy is generating electromagnetic pulses. The generated pulses penetrate through layers of clothing and even body tissues to the place of application. These pulses have specially developed biotropic parameters (e.g. frequency, profile, intensity), thanks to which the pulsed magnetotherapy affects various health conditions.

The term pulse magnetotherapy is most commonly used for physiotherapy using the principle of electromagnetic pulses. The abbreviation PEMF is used in order to be concise.

Patented 3D Biomag technology ensures more precise and uninterrupted pulse profiles, enhances output, and allows pulses to come from various angles. This makes it a completely new and unique medical technology on the market.

What are the benefits of therapy of arterial and venous ulcers?

  • Stimulates microcirculation of oxygenated blood and nutrients in targeted areas.
  • Locally creates better metabolic environment for healing.
  • Has beneficial vasodilating effect on precapillaries and capillaries.
  • Thanks to being easy to use, it can be applied at home.
  • It’s a solution with no additional medicaments.
  • It’s a non-invasive treatment.

3D Biomag therapy and its effects – as explained by MUDr. Peter Bednarčík, CSc.

The effects of pulsed therapy - clinical studies

Effects of pulse therapy (PEMF) on arterial and venous ulcers are supported by many studies: for one, a clinical study performed on 26 patients by a team from the Research Department of Juárez Hospital in Mexico City and whose results were published in Archives of Medical Research. It confirms significant effect and safety of pulsed therapy (PEMF) during varicose ulcer treatment. It logically follows from the above-mentioned that 3D Biomag pulse therapy can help significantly with treating patients with these issues. More about this scientific study.

Positive effects of pulse magnetic field (PEMF) are evidenced by clinical studies by authorities on the subject and renowned institutions. The newest list of these clinical studies can be found on this page. Contact us and we will gladly help to familiarize yourself with this expert data.

Our department uses pulse magnetic field application very well. We appreciate that not only is there an option to used numbered programmes, but also to set up our own programmes. The device is small and easy to operate with good output.

University hospital Na Bulovce, Prague – Physiotherapy department

We have been utilising pulse magnetic field treatment in our spa for more than 10 years. We use Biomag devices for both physiotherapy and spa treatment. It is very advantageous to combine magnetotherapy with other physiotherapy methods because the effect of magnetotherapy potentiates with other methods (analgesic, anti-oedematous, recovery and myorelaxing).

Bělohrad Peat Spa – Lázně Bělohrad

We are happy with the device. The applicators are also easy to operate, and treatment results are satisfying. Feedback from patients is positive. Average number of applications is 50 per week.

Masaryk hospital, Jilemnice

Health problems have subsided and leg ulcers have also partly healed. We are very happy with the device.

Josef Zhříval, Nové Heřminovy

I'm satisfied using magnetotherapy. My spine pain relieved, my bruised ulcer was after treatment healed, and I did not even have any spasms in my legs.

Božena Húšková, Závod
