A brief description of the therapeutic effects of biomag magnetotherapy

Pain-killing (analgesic) effects:
Due to magnetic induction, the therapy triggers the generation of an electric current in the nerve fibres, which disables painful pulses moving from the source of the pain via the spinal cord into the brain centres, and (along with some other mechanisms, e.g. enhanced endorphin production, suppression of inflammation and swelling as well as myorelaxation) results in relief from pain.
The stimulated endorphin production and regulation of calcium ions moving through the cell membrane contribute to vascular dilatation and the analgesic effect and also bring general relief.
The analgesic effect of magnetotherapy not only supports general ease but works well with sleeplessness and neuralgic pains; however, synchronisation of EEG records has been recorded.
After application of the therapy, the activity of the lactate-dehydrogenase in the exposed musculature has been shown to increase (this process inhibits the degradation of lactic acid, which irritates the nerve receptors and causes pain). Especially good results with BiomagR devices have been seen with painful radicular and pseudoradicular syndromes (sciatica, nerve oppression – various causes).

Myorelaxing effects (skeletal muscle relief):

The therapy causes acidic metabolites to flow away faster (perfusion is enhanced and the activity of lactate-dehydrogenase is stimulated), which results in relief from painful irritation in the muscles and in parts suffering from chronic inflammation. Thus the pain is eased and painful muscle spasms (contractures) are relieved.
Moreover, considerably slower function of the nerve lines on the lower extremities has been seen in athletes, which also contributes to myorelaxation (muscle relief). The myorelaxing effect on the back muscles (para-vertebral striated musculature around the spinal column) initiated by BiomagR devices brings relief from many ailments, e.g. stiff cervical vertebrae, headaches, vertigo, poor hearing, poor mobility, shooting pain from the spine to the extremities, etc.

Anti-oedematous (anti–swelling effects)

As the therapy accelerates the metabolism, swellings are absorbed faster, and within the exposed area or part of the body, the therapy works effectively to relieve inflammation and pain. It is recommended that you place BiomagR applicators above the affected part of the body (e.g. in the case of a sprained ankle). After 30 – 45 minutes of stimulation, repeated 3 times a day, considerable results are achieved – great relief from swellings and pain.

Vasodilatory effects:
The low-frequency pulse magnetic field affects erythrocyte polarisation by means of a positive charge. The field works against the so-called erythrocyte rouleaux: as a result of the therapy, the erythrocytes are redispersed, thus their capacity to bind oxygen is increased. After passing through the magnetic field, the blood shows a much higher capability to bind oxygen. The erythrocyte polarisation affects artery muscular tension, the arteries become broader (vasodilatation), which helps to supply the oxygenised blood and the nutrients to the tissues and speeds up the elimination of toxicants. The oxygen partial pressure is significantly increased. Low-frequency magnetic therapy stimulates erythrocyte plasticity. The more flexible erythrocytes are able to adapt to the “obstacles” in the blood “riverbed” much better. As a result of the therapy, the risk of blood clots is also reduced. Over the course of the therapy, the parasympathetic nerve system is activated and Ca2+ ions are effluxed, loosening the arterial muscles (especially the pre-capillary constrictors), resulting in vascular dilation. All these processes affect (harmonise) the function of the heart, blood circulation, and blood pressure. Low-frequency magnetic therapy works well to combat ischemic heart disease and ischemic disease related to the upper/lower extremities, hard-to-treat varicose ulcers and various blood circulation deficiencies. As a result of the therapy, the arteries that have already closed do not become passable again. However, the collateral blood flow throughout the skin and muscular tissues is considerably improved.

Detoxification, metabolism-stimulating effects:
The low-frequency pulse magnetic field proceeds evenly through the exposed tissue, i.e. passes through every cell, and a weak electric current is induced. The cell surface potential is changed, affecting cell membrane permeability, promoting blood circulation, oxygenation and nutrition, and resulting in better elimination of metabolic waste from the exposed tissues – which is, of course, the fundamental prerequisite of any healing process. It is the more intensive metabolism, the elimination of waste and detoxification that initiate all the healing and recovery processes. For example, if you let the BiomagR device act on the liver area, the function of the liver is stimulated, which will accelerate and enhance the detoxification processes in the whole body. Local effects may be initiated by placing the applicator onto the affected part of the body or the area – the muscle, the joint, the backbone, etc. Applying a smaller applicator achieves a stronger local effect (through higher induction) while if a larger applicator is used, although the working induction is lower, a more extensive positive metabolism-stimulating effect is achieved.

Healing and recovery, anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatic effects:

Supported with evidence both for bones and for soft tissues, and which may be explained due to the non-specific cytoplasmic membrane irritation and consequent activation of the metabolic chain whose key point is change in the cAMP/cGMP ratio and the increased osteoclast activity in the case of healing bones. Low-frequency magnetic therapy significantly stimulates the healing process, activates the formation of new tissue (fast growth of bone tissue and calcification), and leads to higher sensibility to the parathormone.
Therefore, the low-frequency pulse magnetic field is used to stimulate healing in the case of fractures, pseudoarthrosis, and to reinforce loose and painful endoprostheses.
As a result of the therapy, the level of proteoglycans in the cartilage is increased by (up to) 22 % (according to Chvojka), supporting the healing process and cartilage regeneration – which would otherwise be difficult to deal with at all or only be possible to a limited extent. This accelerated healing process has been proven not only with bones but with soft tissue as well. BiomagR devices are capable of having a positive effect not only on sterile inflammation (rheumatic diseases), but microbial inflammation as well.
The therapy induces phagocytic activity, including superoxide production, which leads to suppression of the microbial flora. However, this may also be the reason for the temporarily worsening condition of rheumatics over the course of the first application sessions. Fortunately, super-oxide-dismutase is then activated, resulting in general relief and initiation of the healing process. The mechanism of the anti-inflammatory effect may explain how the therapeutic pulses work on sterile inflammation (rheumatic diseases – Morbus Bechterev, progressive poly-arthritis) and microbial inflammation as well (such as sinusitis, osteomyelitis, etc). Especially good results are achieved in cases of radicular and pseudoradicular syndromes (sciatica, nerve oppression – various causes). There are records of this in the professional literature, describing very good effects when treating degenerative spinal marrow disease where a crucial role is played by the intracellular to extracellular transfer of Ca2+ ions and provision of the necessary differential of calcium concentration between extracellular and intracellular areas. Damaged cells are not able to retain their concentration differential (which is 3-4 degrees for the extracellular area). This results in increased movement of calcium ions into the cells, and many enzymes are activated, including protease that would destroy protein structures, resulting in cell destruction. Anyway, cells reacting to magnetic stimuli decrease the intracellular concentration of the calcium ions, the enzymes are inhibited and the cellular functions are recovered (or at least partially recovered). In the case of cerebral palsy in children this involves the metabolic stimulation of glial cells.
